Age at T1D diagnosis: 4

Isabelle loves to dance, particularly classic ballet, and take part in Model UN. Her goal is to attend medical school to become an endocrinologist. She explains, “Having to grow up with the disease has made me realize I want to become someone who will help other kids who struggle and be able to say that I have changed peoples’ lives for the better.” Isabelle’s brother and father also have T1D and the family is very involved with JDRF. Every year they take part in a JDRF Fashion Show where Isabelle often speaks and walks the runway. Isabelle has also met with her Members of Congress on numerous occasions to explain what it’s like to live with T1D. “Not every diabetic has access to new technology and better government support can hopefully change that.”
