Age: 12
Age at T1D diagnosis: 7

Hannah dispels rumors surrounding T1D. “It’s not my fault that my body can’t process sugar correctly to fuel my body. Other than my T1D, I’m an active and healthy kid! I play soccer and basketball and try to eat a very healthy diet. It’s important to my entire family to take care of our bodies.”

Hannah’s outreach efforts include discussing the Special Diabetes Program with her Members of Congress and learning about developments like the artificial pancreas. Hannah loves soccer, basketball, art, and drama. You might find her dressing up as a historical figure in her spare time. As for Children’s Congress, she has one goal: community awareness. “I hope to help Congress understand that T1D affects the entire family and entire communities. My town of Lexington, South Carolina, is deeply affected by type 1 diabetes.”
