Grant discusses his goals in his own words, but his sentiments are shared by everyone at Children’s Congress. “I hope to help more people be aware of type 1 diabetes. I want to show people how hard it is living with type 1 diabetes. I also want to help raise more money and get a step closer to the cure.”

A talented athlete—he plays football and runs track, and is already on a varsity team—Grant also plays the part of an advocate. In addition to attending JDRF Walks, he has participated in a clinical trial, and he helps raise awareness by educating his church community about the disease. He is learning to play the guitar, enjoys reading, and plans to attend a good college someday.
