When Garrett was just shy of two years old, he was diagnosed with T1D. In the nine years since diagnosis, Garrett has become an exceptionally strong advocate for T1D research—from raising over $200,000 for JDRF, to being an ambassador at JDRF One Walks and Galas and starring in Just Like You—Diabetes, a film about T1D. Garrett is also an avid soccer player, and appreciates the technology that allows him to manage his blood sugar while on the field. He is excited to go to Children’s Congress and advocate, saying, “Congress should continue to support diabetes-related issues because without this support, I would not be able to live my life the way I do right now—safe, healthy and active.”
