Age: 13
Age at T1D diagnosis: 5

Evan likes video games, the Green Bay Packers and solving Rubik’s Cubes. When he grows up he wants to be a professional football player. Although managing his T1D wasn’t too bad at first, Evan says that “after a while I started to hate having to stop and test my blood sugar before I ate any food and before I played outside or with friends.” Evan and his family have a JDRF One Walk team called ‘Evan’s Advocates’—and he also serves as a Youth Ambassador for the event. Every year over Christmas break, Evan and his brothers hold a fundraiser at their local movie theater to raise money for JDRF. “We need to be able to pay the top researchers in the world so they can keep trying to find ways to cure T1D.”
