Age: 16
Age at T1D diagnosis: 9

Ethan accidentally diagnosed himself with T1D. He was helping his younger brother, Ari, test his glucose level, and decided on the spur of the moment to check his own. When he saw his own glucose level was more than 400, he wound up in the hospital where a formal diagnosis was made. Having a brother with T1D, Ethan knew how his life would change. “It turned out T1D was everything I expected, but worse,” he says. Ethan is co-captain with his brother of the ‘Battling Brothers’ JDRF One Walk team, and serves as a Youth Advocacy Leader and mentor to younger people newly diagnosed with T1D. Ethan is an avid skier, soccer and tennis player, and hopes to study law and government.
