Age at T1D diagnosis: 5

Emmabella has many interests, and she gives 110 percent effort to every one of them. She has received awards for public speaking, artwork, academics, leadership, citizenship, and service. She plays tennis and soccer, and loves to read, write, and draw. She also loves animals and hopes to become a veterinarian.

Emmabella became a JDRF volunteer shortly after she was diagnosed with T1D at age five. Through her Walk to Cure Diabetes team and her participation in Kids Walks, she has helped raise more than $85,000 for JDRF. She has also spoken to her elected representatives about T1D research. “The Special Diabetes Program has funded trials that I and my family have participated in, as well as cutting-edge devices that make my life living with type 1 diabetes better, so I can stay healthy until there is a cure!”
