Emma has a lot to be proud of: She loves going to school, dancing competitively and advocating for T1D awareness. But she says one of her greatest accomplishments is her daily positive attitude. “I am proud of myself every day for getting through the day with a smile. It isn’t easy managing what I manage, but I do without complaint!” she says. Emma has raised awareness of T1D by making a video about daily life with the disease, participating in JDRF Walks and organizing both the upcoming event, “Comedy for a Cause,” as well as last year’s successful “Zumbathon” fundraiser with her family for their community, even those without T1D. “People came out to support us who had no relationship to type 1 diabetes,” says Emma of the dance fundraiser.
