Age: 16
Age at T1D diagnosis: 5

Emily says that she doesn’t remember life without T1D, but while it’s her “normal,” she still has to think about it every second of every day. Through advancements in T1D technologies like insulin pumps and CGMs, Emily has seen her life with T1D improve over the years, which is why she and her family support JDRF by participating in events like JDRF One Walk and Gala to help raise awareness and drive research progress forward. Does T1D hold Emily back at all? Not a chance! “Although T1D is a disease that is always present and always requires my attention, I don’t dwell on it too much. I look forward to living a long and happy life, traveling and, hopefully, fulfilling my dream of making a difference in the world!”
