Emily would like Congress to understand how important it is to find a cure for type 1, and know that research is the only way for that to happen. In fact, Emily would like to be a diabetes researcher herself one day. Diagnosed at age eight, she is a JDRF Youth Ambassador, and helped raise $1,300 last year with her Walk team, "Gooer's Groupies." Emily often gets to go to diabetes support groups and talk to people with type 2 diabetes about using insulin, which her mother sells, as well as share what it's like to have type 1. Emily has been clog dancing for three years, and also enjoys hip-hop dancing, singing, and acting. In addition to her work as a Youth Ambassador, Emily is proud of playing the role of Molly, the orphan, in the musical Annie, and starring in a video for Advanced Auto Parts.
