Connor claims that he’s just an average kid, who loves Legos and Minecraft. But he’s actually an extraordinary boy. A basketball and soccer player, Connor manages not only T1D but also celiac disease, another autoimmune disease. “Living with both diseases is definitely not an easy task,” says Connor, “but my mom thinks I have done a remarkable job at adapting.” Connor advocates for T1D awareness by meeting with members of Congress, participating in social media campaigns, and reading books about T1D to his classmates. Connor also made a donation to JDRF on behalf of his classmates, which allowed them to wear blue on National Diabetes Day. He is currently participating in the Nightscout program, which lets his parents monitor his blood sugars remotely.
