Age: 16
Age at T1D diagnosis: 11

As a blogger, JDRF ambassador, and dedicated T1D advocate, Catrina is a girl on a mission. “Because type 1 diabetes affects every moment of my life, it is critically important for me to help with finding a cure.” Her hopes for Children’s Congress are crystal clear. “By making Congress aware that type 1 diabetes affects so much of our nation and that there is no cure, I will help persuade them to support continuing crucial research that will one day save lives.”

In addition to maintaining straight As and getting involved with clubs including Invisible Children and Speech & Debate, Catrina spreads awareness through JDRF Walk events, the Promise Ball, and blogging about her life with T1D. Looking ahead, she hopes to become a doctor and to serve as a medical missionary.
