Age at T1D diagnosis: 7

For Carson, T1D is the mother of invention! His creation, the Swipe and Wipe, a blood-sugar test strip with an alcohol- and dry-pad attached, earned top honors at a state invention competition. He was even featured on Nickelodeon’s Figure It Out, which, as Carson puts it, put “T1D in the national spotlight—and that is what we need to help find a cure!”

Carson is learning ventriloquism and visits hospitals, nursing homes, and parties as a clown. He aspires to join the Team Type 1 professional cycling team, and was even invited to join the Junior TT1 team. He also likes to help others work toward a cure. He nominated his school nurse for the Numerica School Champion—and she won! In the future, he hopes to become a doctor, scientist, engineer, or inventor.
