Age: 15
Age at T1D diagnosis: 9

The ball’s in Cameron’s court! An accomplished tennis player, Cameron plays twice a week, and competes on a travel tennis team. He also earned his black belt in karate, an especially impressive feat since he earned it the same year he was diagnosed with T1D. In addition to playing and watching sports, Cameron loves learning about biomedical science, and he has even studied T1D in school. He has participated in JDRF Walks, and has also served as a Youth Ambassador, speaking to JDRF Gala participants. Cameron has recruited his grandfather, a doctor and advocate, to become part of the JDRF Southwestern Ohio Board. Cameron is attending JDRF Children’s Congress because he wants to share his story. “If it helps, just a little bit, then it’s worth it,” he says.
