Diagnosed at age two, Callie has learned how to live a wonderful life with type 1 diabetes, but that doesn't remove the challenges that continue to arise as she gets older. Having tragically lost a good friend to complications of diabetes and having an older sibling who has type 1, Callie has seen first-hand how seriously the disease affects those close to her.

These are just some of the reasons why she's committed to fighting diabetes as a JDRF Youth Ambassador, and why she's training to be a counselor at Camp Hopewell for children with type 1. Callie is very involved with her high school's television station and aspires to be a director or producer of television and film. She is also an award-winning dancer, athlete, and writer. Says Callie: "I want a cure to end the pain, research to end the ignorance, and awareness to end the questions."
