Age: 12
Age at T1D diagnosis: 5

As a certified scuba diver who has a third-degree black belt in tae kwon do, Caleb is simply too active to sit around waiting for a cure. “I don’t want to just wait for others to come up with a cure. I hope to become an endocrinologist when I grow up and help become part of the solution.”

Caleb is also interested in improving the safety of athletics for people with T1D. His own athletic accomplishments are impressive: in addition to scuba diving and martial arts, he also finds time and energy for football and basketball. Caleb has worked as a junior intern at a children’s hospital to learn more about the medical profession. And he looks forward to combining all his interests—medicine, T1D advocacy, and sports.
