Age: 12
Age at T1D diagnosis: 2

Bryan has soared above many challenges. After his diagnosis with T1D at age two, Bryan’s mother, who was deaf, couldn’t manage his disease. As his father had died from diabetes, Bryan was left without family to care for him. After five years in foster care, Bryan was adopted by his “forever mom and dad” in 2010.

Bryan has fundraised for JDRF and participated in the Promise to Remember Me Campaign. He loves sports and looks forward to a cure allowing him to participate even more. “If the government continues to give lots of money to the scientists who are trying to cure type 1 diabetes, I won’t have to have shots or watch what I eat anymore. I also would be able to gain weight and ride the rides at the water park I want to ride.”
