Age: 14
Age at T1D diagnosis: 4

Becca enjoys tennis, student council and peer mentoring. She is also a huge Chicago Cubs fan. In addition to having T1D, Becca also has juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and hypothyroidism—but she doesn’t let her health challenges get her down. Becca has taken part in JDRF One Walk for the last nine years and has raised more than $100,000 for T1D research. Her team ’Rebecca’s Rescuers’ has grown from 15 people to more than 100, at times. She was also a “Kohl’s Care Kid” at her local store to raise awareness about T1D. One day Becca would love to get a diabetic alert dog. When she grows up she wants to become a doctor who treats people with T1D. She says, “I just want one thing and that is to find a cure for type 1 diabetes.”
