Age: 16
Age at T1D diagnosis: 1

Anders, a Denmark native who was diagnosed as a baby, can’t remember a life without T1D—but that doesn’t stop him from imagining one. Part of his dream means making contacts, and friends, at Children’s Congress. “I hope to be a part of the effort that brings more resources to type 1 diabetes research and better terms and conditions for all people who have to live with [the disease].”

Anders has participated in insulin pump and CGM studies, and volunteers with JDRF Denmark, the affiliate his father pioneered after Anders’ diagnosis. In addition to his T1D advocacy, Anders enjoys sports, learning about geography, history, and other subjects, and barbecuing. A national champion football player for the Avedore Monarchs, he dreams of attending—and playing football for—an American university someday.
