When Alex was diagnosed just before his fourth birthday, the Aman family was already familiar with type 1. Alex's older brother, Sam, had been diagnosed at age two. Then, three years after Alex, the oldest Aman brother, Andrew, was diagnosed as well. Alex says that in a household where three brothers have type 1, his mom is like a nurse doing hospital rounds. The disease means a lot of responsibility for everyone, but the family is using that sense of responsibility to make a positive impact. Alex has talked with his representatives through JDRF's Promise to Remember Me Campaign, and is following in his brother Sam's footsteps as a Children's Congress delegate, 10 years later. Alex enjoys playing basketball, football, and baseball, and he is a member of 4-H. Growing up on a farm, he is interested in agriculture and farming, and likes showing cattle and sheep.
