"I really enjoy the challenge of the game," says Ethan of football. "I like the teamwork required." This positive outlook also shines in Ethan's fight against diabetes. Diagnosed at age four, Ethan acknowledges the challenges of diabetes, but doesn't let them define him. His friends and family are supportive teammates as Ethan works hard to advocate for diabetes research and awareness. A Youth Ambassador with the Utah Chapter, Ethan has spoken before organizations and even on television and radio programs about living with type 1. He has helped raise over $20,000 for JDRF, and received a Children's Heart Award for his work with his chapter. Ethan wants to be a role model to others with type 1, encouraging Congress to continue funding research. One day, he would like to be a structural engineer and design amusement park rides, as well as continue his work with JDRF.
