Age: 16
Age at T1D diagnosis: 11

Rachel lives with both T1D and childhood Graves’ disease, and she refuses to let either slow her down. Rachel stays very active by hiking, lifting weights and playing club volleyball. She was captain of her high school’s varsity volleyball team as a freshman, and she went to state championships in swimming after her treatment for Graves’ disease. Rachel also enjoys photography, knitting, sewing, shopping and hanging out with her friends. Rachel is active with JDRF, and she has been a part of JDRF One Walk, JDRF Ride and TypeOneNation Summit events. Rachel looks forward to bringing her passion for being active and for T1D awareness to Children’s Congress this summer.
