Age: 17
Age at T1D diagnosis: 15

When first diagnosed with T1D, Sofi was anxious about suddenly having to care for her own health, manage medical devices and give herself injections, but she also found inspiration for the career she wants to pursue. Sofi is inspired by the doctors and nurses who have helped her with T1D, and now plans to study to become a doctor when she goes to college next year. She has grown a lot in the two years she has had T1D. “My disease has shaped me into a more patient and responsible person,” Sofi says. When she is not busy studying and working, Sofi likes to hike, hang out with her friends, read and watch movies.
