Skylar is a straight-A student with a love of reading, writing, electronic music, shopping and drawing. She’s very involved with JDRF and has participated in many events including JDRF One Walk, TypeOneNation Summits, the Promise to Remember Me campaign and has also served as a Youth Ambassador. When Skylar gets older, she hopes to become a biomedical engineer so she can develop technology that will help people with T1D live healthier lives. Skylar describes herself as very clever, and looks forward to participating in Children’s Congress using her already well developed public speaking skills. “I am super open about my T1D, and I often give class presentations about it, and answer any questions people might have. I love to make T1D known to people who don’t know about it.”
