Sarah has been a JDRF Walk Ambassador for the past 10 years. Five years ago, she became team captain for her JDRF One Walk team and two years ago became a JDRF Gala Ambassador. She has spoken at several corporate JDRF One Walk kick-off functions and met with her Congressman as part of the Promise to Remember Me initiative. Shortly after she was diagnosed, her family started a T1D support group for the north Houston area in which she plays an active role mentoring others diagnosed with the disease. A member of the Girl Scouts who has earned both the bronze and silver leadership and community service awards, Sarah volunteers with the local Girl Scout day camp as a program aide and has worked at a local T1D day camp as a counselor in training.
