Ryan, diagnosed at 16 months old, is interested in a career as a dirt bike rider or entertainment wrestler. But first, he wants to teach people about diabetes and help find a cure. Life changed in many ways for the Fergusons after Ryan's diagnosis, and they became involved with JDRF, attending local meetings and donating funds. Ryan has consulted with doctors about his life with diabetes, taught an entire classroom and several offices about the importance of diabetes research, and has been a poster child for his local JDRF chapter. As a delegate, Ryan wants to raise awareness about the need for research funding, and educate children and parents about the disease.
