Marshall’s entire family is dedicated to JDRF advocacy. Together, they’ve organized a JDRF Walk, rallying friends and family under the team name “Marshall’s Tough Travelers” and winning a silver prize for fundraising. A water polo player and varsity golfer, Marshall is personally most proud of his contribution as a Youth Ambassador for the 2012 JDRF Promise Ball, where he delivered a speech to more than 800 people, helping to raise more than $1 million for T1D research. He recalls the experience: “I realized, I am not alone. I am one of more than a million people affected by type 1, and part of an international organization, JDRF. I am so glad that I was able to have a positive impact for JDRF, an organization that does so much for kids like me.”
