Age: 16
Age at T1D diagnosis: 9

JDRF has taken Miles to new heights. After a JDRF rock-climbing event, Miles began climbing competitively, and even earned a high ranking in a national event. But an even greater bonus for Miles has been meeting a community of other kids with T1D. “Through JDRF, I have made many new friends who are living with type 1 diabetes, just like me. The one thing we all have in common is that we want to see a cure for type 1 diabetes, and soon!”

In addition to climbing, Miles also enjoys mountain biking, racing, and golf. Someday, he hopes to enter the medical field as a nurse anesthetist. For now, though, his goal is to share his insight about living with T1D with Congress, and to help find a cure for T1D and other diseases.
