Madeline says she does her best to keep her head held high, even though diabetes can be challenging. "I find that promoting diabetes [awareness] is a great way to get to know people and have a great time," she says. In the past two years since her diagnosis, Madeline has become a JDRF Gala Ambassador and Youth Ambassador, has created the Walk team "Maddie's Mob," and has established a social group for "tween girls" with diabetes. As a delegate, she wants to put a face on type 1 for Congress. "By sharing my story, I can be a spokesperson for so many others who are facing type 1," she says. Madeline is on a synchronized figure skating team, is a member of the Business Professionals of America, and enjoys reading books by Heather Frederick. She wants to become an advertiser one day, because she loves writing and communicating with others.
