Age: 11
Age at T1D diagnosis: 8

When not leading her team at a JDRF One Walk, which together have raised close to $100,000 to date, Lola likes to play basketball, softball and the viola. Her whole family is involved in JDRF. Her father is on her local chapter board and her mother runs marathons for JDRF. Since her diagnosis, she said the continuous glucose monitor and insulin pump have made T1D dramatically easier to manage for her whole family. She says, “Advancements in diabetes management have improved my quality of life by allowing me to be independent and enjoy the freedom of being able to eat anything, even ice cream, whenever I want.” At Children’s Congress, she is excited to share her “story of courage and resiliency with others.”
