An active athlete, Kieran (nicknamed Kiki) tries not to let his type 1 diabetes slow him down. He enjoys basketball, skiing, and soccer, and is determined to live a fun and full life. Still, since being diagnosed at age nine, Kieran knows it is important to spread awareness about type 1 and raise funds to support research. Kieran has talked with several companies, including Nordstrom, about his experience with diabetes, and asked them for fundraising support. He also participates in the Nordstrom Beat the Bridge to Beat Diabetes race, a fundraiser for JDRF. His team of family and friends, "Kiki's Incredible Team," was among the top family fundraisers at last year's run. Kieran has also met with his representative and with both Washington state senators in Seattle to talk about the need for diabetes research. As a delegate, he looks forward to meeting them again in Washington, DC.
