Age: 15
Age at T1D diagnosis: 9

Jeffrey hasn’t always had T1D, but he has always had a love for hockey. He received his first pair of skates the day he was born! Receiving his diagnosis meant that he had to reconsider how his passion for the sport would fit into his life. “I had to relearn literally every aspect of my life. Imagine how hard that is for a 9 year old who really only cared about hockey, hockey, having fun—and, oh yeah—hockey!” Today, Jeffrey still plays, and also helps young kids learn to skate. “The look on their faces as they experience a feeling of freedom,” he says, “is honestly better than any hockey game I’ve ever played—or even won!” Jeffrey has recruited his entire team as advocates–in–training Walk participants.
