Jack is known for his sunny outlook. In fact, his nickname is Happy Jack. “Luckily, all my friends, teachers, coaches, and family agreed that they were going to help me be Happy Jack. I love to make people smile, and this illness will not change that.”

Jack isn’t just happy—he’s brave. He participates in clinical trials, where he receives injections of drugs that may help with T1D. He won top honors for his T1D-related science-fair project. Jack plays soccer and football, and loves playing the piano and singing. Someday, he hopes to be a politician, soccer player, reporter, or even a Broadway star. For now, he’s focused on a cure. “I’ll always be Happy Jack, but finding a cure would make me the Happiest Jack of all.”
