Age: 15
Age at T1D diagnosis: 7

Evan is an avid fisherman, rifleman and marksman. He also enjoys flag football, basketball and track. Evan and his family, including his grandparents, are strong advocates for T1D research. This will be their seventh year taking part in their local JDRF Gala. In 2012, his family was named the ’Eternal Hope Honoree Family’ and helped fill the JDRF Gala with more than 400 guests to raise more than $300,000 for JDRF. Evan says, “My favorite part about being an honoree is that my own school and classmates donated their own money to fund a cure to help me.” Although Evan has a great deal of support, blood sugar levels are always on his mind. “My dreams for the future include a cure that would not involve equipment or constant management of diabetes.”
