Danika is determined to make a difference. Danika loves giving back to her community through service projects with her school’s student council, which she has been elected to every year of high school. She has grown up knowing that it is important to help others, and that no one is ever alone in dealing with a situation, especially T1D. Danika says, “Helping others, to me, doesn’t always mean doing things for them physically, but helping them emotionally and mentally.” Danika also played volleyball for eight years, and even participated in the National Volleyball Tournament in Chicago on the Navy Pier. In her spare time, she enjoys water skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling and redecorating her family’s house with things she makes.
