Age: 14
Age at T1D diagnosis: 6

Claire has had T1D for more than half her life, but has not let it stop her from living her life to the fullest. She says, “I do not let my diabetes control me. I am still like everyone else.” She is a competitive dancer, president of the National Junior Honor Society and member of her school’s tennis team. In her community, Claire teaches kids about the differences between type one and type two diabetes at her local Boys & Girls Club. She’s excited to be a part of Children’s Congress because she knows how important it is for the Federal government to help as well. She says, “JDRF can’t find a cure on its own. That is why we need the U.S. Congress to support JDRF.”
