Age: 14
Age at T1D diagnosis: 7

Chandler wants to share her thanks for all those who have championed the Special Diabetes Program (SDP). “Their support changes my life for the better every year. When I first was diagnosed, I had to inject insulin with a shot in my leg. Now I have an insulin pump, and that means I rarely use a syringe anymore. Thank you for making it so much easier to manage my type 1 diabetes.” She wants to encourage future funding, too. “I want to put a human face on type 1 diabetes so that Congress will continue to make the SDP
a priority.”

Chandler volunteers for JDRF by creating videos, greeting guests, and presenting awards at the Gala, and participating in Walks. Her future goals include graduating at the top of her class and attending the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
