Age: 13
Age at T1D diagnosis: 10

At Austin’s first JDRF event, he was pushed around in a stroller at a JDRF One Walk in support of his older brother who also has T1D. However, since Austin’s diagnosis with T1D at age 10, he has taken his efforts to find a cure for T1D to a whole new level. He participates in clinical trials, and recently has participated in a study working to continually improve the Medtronic 670G system. Austin says, “It means a lot to me to try to find a cure for T1D because I have it, my brother has it and millions of other children and adults also have it.” Austin is close to earning his black belt in karate, and is excited to keep learning and growing.
