Anya likes to take advantage of all the outdoor activities her hometown has to offer such as hiking, kayaking, skiing and swimming. She also likes to skateboard with her brother and play ukulele with a local group of more than 100 musicians. Since the age of six, Anya has attended diabetes camp and has been in a clinical trial for a new glucometer. In her community, Anya has spoken many times to people about the importance of funding T1D research. She says, “Not a week goes by that I don’t use social media to educate others about life with T1D. I want everyone to know what life with T1D looks like. That it looks like me. I think if people see a life being lived, they are inspired to be part of the effort toward finding a cure too.”
