Age: 10
Age at T1D diagnosis: 7

Anna knows firsthand what it’s like to be part of a movement: Not only has she delivered the keynote address at the JDRF Blue Ridge Chapter Gala, but she has also volunteered at the JDRF Ride to Cure Diabetes in Vermont. Her dad participated in the 100–mile bike ride, and Anna helped out at the 50–mile point rest stop. That Ride alone raised nearly $1 million for T1D research! Anna has also earned the Golden Sneaker award for her JDRF Walk participation three years in a row, and she also attends family support group meetings and JDRF Walk kickoffs. When Anna isn’t busy spreading the word about T1D, she loves swimming competitively, participating in Girl Scouts, and learning how to cook. Her specialty? Cheesy scrambled eggs, which she makes for her (very lucky) brother.
