A competitive dancer, Katharine enjoys jazz dance, ballet, and musical theater. She takes piano and voice, and also likes swimming, golf, and advanced gymnastics. She was in community productions of The Wizard of Oz and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. She would like to become a pediatric endocrinologist or a professional dancer. Diagnosed a year and a half ago, she started using the pump less than a year after her diagnosis. She likes it better than shots, but it still hurts her. She raised $3,000 for her first diabetes Walk. She is the captain of her team, diVabetics, and plans on walking again this year. On the anniversary of her diagnosis, she and her family donated toys to hospitalized kids because she remembered how it helped her. As a delegate, "I want to convince lawmakers to increase funding for diabetes research, including stem cells."
