Julie from Wisconsin
Profile:

While all people living with diabetes try to remain active, Julie took it to the extreme when she completed a spring triathlon, swimming a quarter mile, bicycling 16 miles, and then running 3.2 miles. She also runs, plays volleyball, water skis, and likes to do "most anything adventurous." She aspires to be a pediatrician. Now 17, Julie was in second grade when she was diagnosed. When she returned to school, she explained diabetes to her class, and she goes back every year to talk to students. She has participated in JDRF Walks and spoken at galas. When she went to Washington to meet with her representatives, she convinced one senator to prick his finger and test his blood sugar to see what she has to do every day.
