Zachary from Washington
Profile:
Zachary is a very active 8-year-old whose favorite activities are skateboarding, riding his bike, and playing with his brother and sister, Kyla and Raymond. He's into sports and animals, he loves to sing, and like Raymond, he wants to be a scientist when he grows up. Zachary was diagnosed when he was 11 months old, and though he continues to hate his shots, he has become used to living with diabetes. Among his accomplishments, he mentions first that he has learned to check his blood sugar and give himself his shots, although "I am still a little scared of it." He has participated in the JDRF Walk for four years now, and he volunteers every Thursday with his family at the local food bank.
