Kyla from Washington
Profile:
Kyla was in a life-threatening coma at the time of her type 1 diabetes diagnosis at the age of 1, brought on by ketoacidosis. A year later, her two brothers, Raymond and Zachary, were also both diagnosed. Ever since, her mom has struggled to maintain all three children's health and keep their blood sugars in line. Kyla, 10, helps to raise funds for the cure year-round, and has participated in other charitable work in her community as well. She has talked to schools and kids' clubs, and last year the family held a picnic to raise money. She likes arts and crafts, animals, and anything to do with space. Kyla wants to be a veterinarian when she grows up, because she loves helping animals.
