Ben, diagnosed at age three, enjoys swimming, soccer, and chess club. He loves to ride his bike and build with legos and blocks. He likes reading, math, and cooking and baking with his mother. He would like to be a scientist one day so he can help other people with diabetes. He is the 2009 Beat the Bridge Youth Ambassador and his team, Team Ben, raised more than $10,000. His family has also attended other JDRF events, including the Promise to Remember Me Campaign. As a delegate, Ben hopes to communicate the importance of diabetes research to Members of Congress.
