Allison is involved in many sports, including softball, basketball, water skiing, downhill skiing, and running. She is part of the class government at her school, and would like to be a doctor one day. She has received two gold medals, a silver medal, and a naval research award at science fairs. She also received the art, drama, science, French, and female athlete awards in eighth grade. Allison also has type 1 diabetes. Diagnosed at age nine, the now 14 year old strongly believes that nobody should be burdened mentally and physically with this disease. “I hope to meet and befriend a lot of other kids with diabetes from across the country, and to make a lasting impression on Members of Congress—it is incredibly important for them to support diabetes research in order to find a cure.”
