Simon from Texas
Profile:

When Simon, 17, was diagnosed with diabetes, he was already involved with JDRF. A friend's father also had the disease, and Simon, then in 8th grade, had already participated in JDRF Walks and golf tournaments. That year, he joined the Promise to Remember Me campaign for the first time. Since then, he has visited state senators and representatives on both sides of the stem-cell research debate, which he says has helped him understand the ethical issues involved, and last year he testified in the Texas Senate Chamber on the research. When he's not advocating for diabetes research or helping to raise funds for JDRF, Simon enjoys fishing, hunting and reading. He is a member of the National Honor Society and received All-State and All-District recognition for lacrosse.
