Joey plays golf, football, basketball, and baseball. He has kept his diabetes in control for almost six years, but considers it a hassle—managing shots, finger pricks, and high and low blood sugar every day can be overwhelming for him. An honor roll student, he has participated in the JDRF Walk each year. As a delegate, Joey hopes to convince Members of Congress to support research toward a cure for type 1 diabetes, not just for him, but for the millions of other children who have this disease.
