Drake, 10, says a prayer every night that a cure for diabetes will be found. In the meantime, he keeps busy hanging out with his best friend, Jordan, and playing football, basketball and baseball. He was starting quarterback and lead scorer and didn't miss a play one season--a feat that greatly impressed his coach, who said Drake will inspire others to do anything they want. Drake and his parents spread diabetes awareness in the community, especially at Drake's school and the high school where his father is a teacher. Their family team, Drake's Diabetes Destroyers, raises money each year in the local JDRF Walk. He likes to quote his mom about lobbying for change: "If everyone makes waves, we'll one day create our own ocean to wipe out diabetes."
