Alexis from South Dakota
Profile:

Alexis, 12, has had diabetes since she was 1. She is lucky to have a special friend and classmate, Jordan, who looks out for her at school and may have saved her life when they were in second grade by noticing she was low and making her drink juice. Alexis likes Girls Scouts, cheerleading, modeling, singing, and e-mailing her pen pals. She educates fellow students about diabetes and showed her health class all her equipment and the risks she lives with every day. She would like to become a teacher or diabetes educator. She also enjoys advocating on behalf of JDRF. "Member of Congress, try to look at my life and imagine you living it every day," she says. "We need you to help us by supporting important research."
